This important role focuses on delivering high-quality special education services through a mix of pull-out groups and individualized support, including for non-verbal students who spend the majority of their day in a specialized classroom with paraprofessionals.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active special education teaching certification
- Experience working with upper elementary students (grades 5–6) strongly preferred
- Familiarity with a variety of instructional approaches for diverse learning needs
- Previous exposure to supporting non-verbal students is an asset
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work closely with paraprofessionals and other staff
- Strong organizational abilities and a flexible mindset
- Commitment to maintaining a positive, inclusive classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ unique needs
- Lead pull-out groups focused on academic and social development
- Deliver targeted interventions and support, adapting materials for accessibility
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals to ensure consistency and continuity of care for non-verbal students
- Communicate with families and team members regarding progress and strategies
- Maintain thorough documentation in compliance with special education regulations
- Cultivate a supportive atmosphere that encourages student growth and confidence
