Early Childhood Special Education Teacher in Jersey City, NJ
Job Description
Shape the early learning experiences of young children and make a meaningful difference in a supportive, collaborative environment. A contract opportunity is available for Pre-K Special Education Teachers to work with preschool-aged students in specialized classroom settings for the full 2026–2027 school year.
Opportunities exist for both PSD (Preschool Disabilities) and PSI (Preschool Intervention) classrooms. As an educator in these roles, you will help develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), support developmental milestones, and work alongside a team dedicated to student achievement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver engaging, tailored instructional activities based on IEP goals
- Foster a nurturing, inclusive classroom where all students feel valued
- Work collaboratively with related service providers, instructional teams, and families
- Monitor student progress, maintain documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
- Implement evidence-based strategies to support academic, social, and behavioral development
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid New Jersey Preschool through Grade 3 (P-3) Certification
- Special Education endorsements (Teacher of Students with Disabilities [TOSD], Teacher of the Handicapped [TOH], or equivalent as outlined per assignment)
- Experience working with preschool-aged students with exceptional needs preferred
- Strong classroom management, communication, and teamwork skills
- Proven ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners
