Job Description
Make a direct impact in the lives of students by supporting 5th and 6th graders with diverse learning needs as a contract Special Education Teacher. Situated near beautiful Lake Geneva, this role focuses on delivering individualized instruction and fostering an inclusive classroom environment.
In this assignment, you'll work with a range of students including both those who benefit from targeted pull-out sessions and some non-verbal learners primarily based in the special education room, where collaboration with dedicated paraprofessionals is key. Your expertise will be vital in helping every student reach their full potential.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility) for the grade levels required
- Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students with varying exceptionalities
- Proficiency in developing and implementing IEPs
- Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals, specialists, and general education teachers
- Strong communication skills to connect with students, staff, and families
- Comfort and creativity in adapting curriculum and teaching strategies
- Previous experience with non-verbal students or augmentative/alternative communication devices is a plus
Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction in small pull-out groups and within a dedicated special education classroom
- Develop and adapt IEP goals and lessons in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Partner with paraprofessionals to enrich instructional support, especially for non-verbal students
- Monitor student progress, assess needs, and maintain thorough documentation
- Foster an inclusive, nurturing environment for all students
