Pharmacy Billing Associate

  • $22/hour
  • Full-Time | Monday - Friday Day Shift

We are currently seeking Pharmacy Technicians and pharmacy professionals for a growing Long-Term Care Pharmacy in East Syracuse, NY! This opportunity is ideal for candidates looking to utilize their pharmacy knowledge in a more administrative and billing-focused role within a collaborative LTC environment.

This is a non-patient facing position with a reliable weekday schedule and strong long-term growth potential within a growing organization.

Schedule:

  • Generally Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Team members must be available on the 1st of each month for month-end reporting
  • If the 1st falls on a weekend, availability that day is required, with a weekday off provided in return

Responsibilities:

  • Process pharmacy billing rejections and insurance claims
  • Work Prior Authorizations (PAs) and claim corrections
  • Verify primary and secondary insurance coverage for residents
  • Perform census audits and ensure facility records match pharmacy billing data
  • Run billing and month-end reports for over 20 Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs)
  • Handle inbound calls from facilities and customers regarding billing discrepancies and account questions
  • Re-bill pending Medicaid accounts and follow up on unpaid claims
  • Complete account reconciliation, account adjustments, refund requests, and bad debt processing
  • Track and document all account activity accurately within the system
  • Identify recurring billing issues and escalate/process corrective actions as needed
  • Utilize EMAR, SharePoint, Excel, and pharmacy software daily
  • Assist with Lawson account setup for facilities and private pay accounts
  • Support month-end closing and reimbursement improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Previous Pharmacy Technician or pharmacy experience required
  • Experience working with insurance claims, billing rejections, and Prior Authorizations preferred
  • Strong computer and data entry skills required
  • Experience with EMAR, SharePoint, or pharmacy systems highly preferred
  • Excel experience is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and financial accuracy
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Previous long-term care pharmacy or pharmacy billing experience is a plus
