Responsibilities

Support specimen processing functions within the laboratory, including presort, pickup, and delivery of specimens.

Perform imaging, microfilming, centrifugation, and aliquoting of specimens with accuracy and efficiency.

Enter data accurately into laboratory information systems, maintaining a pace of approximately 6,000 keystrokes per hour.

Sort and handle specimens appropriately, understanding different specimen types and related test requirements.

Adhere to safety protocols in a biohazard environment, practicing good safety habits at all times.

Maintain a clean and organized work area, supporting overall lab functionality and efficiency.

Communicate effectively with team members and staff across various levels to ensure smooth workflow.

Support compliance with laboratory regulations and adapt to evolving testing requirements and procedures.

Work primarily on the night shift, with flexibility to include weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.

Required Skills

Basic understanding of computers and data entry capabilities.

Strong organization skills and ability to learn and understand specimen types and testing protocols.

Effective communication skills and positive interpersonal skills.

Ability to work in a production environment with a focus on quality and productivity.

Comfortable sitting or standing for extended periods.

Additional Skills & Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required; prior laboratory or medical terminology knowledge preferred.

No prior experience required; previous laboratory or hospital experience is a plus.

Familiarity with laboratory testing and specimen processing is advantageous.

Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Ability to adhere to safety and compliance policies diligently.
