Family Law Attorney
Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Associate Family Law Attorney to join a growing family law practice dedicated to helping children and families navigate life's most challenging transitions. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney who is passionate about client advocacy, enjoys litigation, and is looking to build a long-term family law career through structured mentorship, professional development, and hands-on courtroom experience.
Responsibilities
Represent clients throughout all phases of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, equitable distribution, mediation, hearings, and trials.
Meet with clients to evaluate legal issues, develop case strategies, and provide ongoing legal guidance.
Draft pleadings, motions, agreements, contracts, court orders, and other family law documents.
Prepare cases for hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trial.
Communicate proactively with clients to provide updates and manage expectations throughout the legal process.
Advocate for clients while maintaining professionalism, empathy, and exceptional client service.
Collaborate with senior attorneys and legal staff on complex family law matters.
Manage an independent caseload while assisting experienced attorneys with more sophisticated cases.
Maintain organized case files and ensure compliance with court deadlines and firm procedures.
Handle matters in Johnston, Wake, and Harnett Counties as needed.
Qualifications
Active North Carolina Bar license (or eligible to be sworn in immediately).
Strong interest in family law litigation and client advocacy.
Ability to represent clients through hearings, mediations, and trials.
Excellent written, verbal, negotiation, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organizational, time management, and case management abilities.
Compassionate, professional, and client-focused approach to emotionally sensitive matters.
Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team-oriented environment.
North Carolina Notary Public or ability to obtain one promptly.
