Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students in specialized elementary and middle school classrooms. This position is ideal for Special Education Teachers passionate about individualized learning, collaborative teamwork, and creating positive experiences for students with diverse needs.

This role features two distinct classroom settings. In the elementary classroom, you’ll guide a caseload of six students in a supportive environment partnered closely with a Teaching Assistant and a dedicated Behavior Technician. Here, you’ll provide tailored instruction and hands-on assistance, including toileting support—there are no feeding needs in this group. Strong communication and adaptability are key as you work to encourage each child’s growth and success.

In the middle school classroom, manage a caseload of eleven students. You’ll work alongside one teacher, three full-time Teaching Assistants, and have 1:1 support for a student with a feeding tube. Most students do not present behavioral needs, but some require toileting assistance. Your responsibilities include creating and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting your teaching to address a range of learning styles.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field
  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education
  • Experience in elementary or middle school settings preferred
  • Compassionate approach to students with varying physical and behavioral needs
  • Ability to collaborate with educational professionals and support staff
  • Comfortable assisting with toileting (and, in middle school, overseeing feeding tube plans)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement IEPs for assigned students
  • Work closely with teaching assistants and behavior technicians
  • Foster a safe, encouraging classroom environment
  • Provide personal care assistance as needed
  • Maintain clear communication with staff and families

If you’re ready to make a meaningful difference in a supportive school environment, apply now to take the next step in your Special Education teaching journey!
