In this role you will deliver high-quality teaching across Fashion & Textiles programmes, inspiring students to develop their creative, technical and professional skills while achieving excellent academic outcomes.You will plan, prepare and deliver engaging, inclusive lessons that meet awarding body requirements and reflect current industry practice, ensuring students receive an outstanding learning experience. Using your expertise in areas such as Printed Textiles, Fashion Construction, Digital Editing and Manipulation, and/or Fashion Illustration, you will support learners to build their confidence, creativity and employability. You will create a positive and inclusive learning environment, provide constructive feedback to support student progress, and contribute to the continued success and development of the Fashion & Textiles curriculum.The successful candidate will ideally be available to teach a full day on Wednesdays, with the opportunity for additional teaching on Thursdays and/or Fridays.Job title: Hourly Paid Lecturer in Fashion & Textiles6-12 Hours per week, 34 weeks per yearHourly paid, Colchester campusAbout the role: To plan and deliver structured and challenging subject specialist teaching sessionsTo deliver teaching sessions which effectively support learners to improve their critical thinking and literacy skills, including their knowledge and application of subject specific terminology.To monitor learner progress and engagement and give constructive feedback to students to help them improve the quality of their work.To be aware of identified student needs and to make appropriate adaptions to teaching and learning in order to support all participants to fully engage and make progress.To contribute to the production of inspiring learning resources and to the provision of online learning environments.To gather student feedback and use this to inform and develop teaching practice.To maintain excellent communication with teaching and support staff to ensure that teaching and learning is well planned and resourced.Essential Experience: Experience of teaching Art & Design students on Further Education programmes or equivalentExperience of teaching a Fashion Design and/ or Textiles curriculaEssential Qualifications: Education to degree level or above and/or a professional qualification in relevant subject area or equivalentMinimum of Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics GCSE 4+ or C and above / CSE Level 1 / O-Level C or above / Level 2 Adult Numeracy or Literacy or equivalentLevel 5 Teaching Qualification / completing within 3 years of employment or 3 years of the first available courseWhy join us?At Colchester Institute, we value our staff and invest in their growth.
