Architectural Technician/Technologist

Due to continued expansion and exciting new projects on the horizon, we currently have a vacancy for an experienced Architectural Technician / Architectural Technologist to join our growing team. We are looking for a candidate who enjoys practical construction and buildability rather than purely design-led work.Unlike many architectural practices, this role offers the opportunity to work closely with our in-house construction team and see projects progress from initial concept through to completion on site. You will have a direct influence on project delivery, working alongside experienced construction professionals and gaining practical experience across a diverse range of developments.At T J Atkin Ltd we pride ourselves on providing high-quality, complete construction solutions to industrial, commercial, and agricultural clients throughout Yorkshire. Therefore, our successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate the necessary knowledge, enthusiasm, skills and diligence to produce high-quality technical designs, coordinate project information and support the successful delivery of projects from concept through to completion, enhancing our reputation and providing a positive reflection of the company.Roles & Responsibilities Prepare concept and construction drawing packages.Develop technical details, specifications and design information for a variety of industrial, commercial and agricultural projects.Assist with projects from initial concept design through to construction and completion.Liaise with clients, consultants, local authorities, subcontractors and internal project teams.Undertaking site visits, surveys and inspections where required.Ensure designs comply with Regulations, planning requirements and relevant industry standards.Coordinate and manage design information throughout the project lifecycle.Produce accurate construction details and technical documentation.Assist project managers and site teams with technical queries during construction.Maintain accurate project records, drawing registers and revision control.Desired Skills Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work.Strong technical and problem-solving abilities.Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.Strong communication and client-facing skills.Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and construction methods.Ability to work independently and as part of a wider project team.High level of industry knowledge and technical competence.Software Experience Essential AutoCADMicrosoft Office SuiteMicrosoft ProjectDesirable 3D CAD SoftwareUse of GPS & Robotic Survey EquipmentQualifications Essential HNC/HND, Degree equivalent qualification in Architectural Technology, Architecture, Construction Design or a related discipline.Desirable CIAT membership or working towards professional accreditation.Relevant industry experience within industrial, commercial or agricultural construction sectors.Licence / Certification Full UK Driving Licence required.CSCS CardSchedule Full-time position.Mix of site and remote working.Mainly Monday to Friday.National site visits and travel may be required.Remuneration & Benefits Competitive rates of pay, negotiable based on ability, attitude and experience.Employed position.Paid monthly.Annual leave, negotiable.Employer pension contribution.Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.We are committed to supporting inclusivity and diversity within the construction industry, welcoming applications from all.
