Reading £400 per day (Inside IR35) 6-month contract

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Manager to lead the delivery of housing repairs and maintenance services across gas, plumbing, and electrical workstreams within a busy local authority environment.

\n

Based in Reading, this is a pivotal leadership role responsible for managing both in-house teams and subcontractors, ensuring high-quality, compliant service delivery across reactive repairs, planned maintenance, and external contracts.

The Role

You will act as a key operational lead, driving performance against KPIs, embedding a strong customer-focused culture, and ensuring full compliance with health & safety and building legislation. [Mechanical...anager (1) | Word]

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing gas, plumbing, and electrical services delivery
  • \n
  • Overseeing reactive repairs and planned maintenance programmes
  • \n
  • Managing budgets, forecasting, and financial performance
  • \n
  • Driving continuous service improvement and transformation
  • \n
  • Ensuring compliance with H&S, CDM, and regulatory standards
  • \n
  • Managing subcontractors and supply chain performance
  • \n
  • Leading and developing teams including supervisors and operatives
  • \n
  • Handling complex complaints, enquiries, and stakeholder engagement
  • \n

About You

\n

We are looking for a technically qualified M&E professional with strong leadership experience in a housing or building services environment.

\n

You will have:

\n
    \n
  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical or Building Services
  • \n
  • Proven experience managing repairs & maintenance services
  • \n
  • Strong background leading large teams and subcontractors
  • \n
  • Experience managing budgets and driving KPI performance
  • \n
  • Solid understanding of housing legislation and compliance
  • \n
  • Ability to analyse performance data and implement improvements
  • \n
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • \n
