Job Description

We are recruiting for an experienced Credit Controller to join a growing organisation based in Billingham. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and organised individual to play a key role within the finance team, managing customer accounts, maintaining strong client relationships, and supporting the company's financial performance.

The successful candidate will have previous credit control experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to effectively manage outstanding debt while delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor customer accounts and manage outstanding balances
  • \n
  • Chase overdue invoices via telephone, email, and written correspondence
  • \n
  • Allocate incoming payments and maintain accurate financial records
  • \n
  • Reconcile customer accounts and investigate payment discrepancies
  • \n
  • Assess customer creditworthiness and support credit limit reviews
  • \n
  • Produce aged debt reports and collection forecasts
  • \n
  • Maintain records of customer communications and payment arrangements
  • \n
  • Liaise with internal departments to resolve account queries
  • \n
  • Escalate non-payment cases where appropriate
  • \n
  • Support month-end and year-end finance activities
  • \n
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and financial procedures
  • \n

Key Skills & Experience

    \n
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience within a Credit Control role
  • \n
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • \n
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • \n
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • \n
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple accounts effectively
  • \n
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and finance/accounting systems
  • \n
  • Professional and confident approach when dealing with customers
  • \n
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • \n
  • High levels of integrity and confidentiality
  • \n
  • Previous finance or accounts administration experience would be advantageous
  • \n
  • Full UK driving licence and access to transport due to office location
  • \n
