Software Engineer (Backend Java)Newcastle 3 days on-site£40,000 £55,000 + bonusA leading technology consultancy is seeking a Software Engineer to join a growing engineering function delivering secure, scalable services for major public-sector and enterprise programmes. This is a hands-on development role suited to someone with strong Java fundamentals and a desire to build high-quality software in a highly regulated environment.What youll be doing:Designing and developing Java services using JDK 11+ and Spring BootBuilding modular, maintainable microservices aligned to enterprise and security standardsWorking with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, and SonarQubeCollaborating with cloud and infrastructure teams to deploy into secure cloud environmentsApplying software engineering best practices (TDD/BDD, branching strategy, code quality)Contributing to agile ceremonies and working closely with technical leads and testersKey Skills & ExperienceEssential:2+ years' experience as a Java Developer (5+ fStrong Java (JDK 11+) and Spring Boot development skillsExposure to microservices, modern APIs, and cloud-based deliveryUnderstanding of secure engineering principles and modern DevOps practicesAbility to operate in agile, collaborative engineering teamsMust be SC Clearable (minimum 5 years continuous UK residency)Experience with AWS or other public cloud platformsExposure to containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)The Package:£40,000 £55,000 base salaryBonus schemePensionMedical coverTo hear more about the Software Engineer opportunity, get in touch with Connor Smyth at Anson McCade.TPBN1_UKTJ
