Principal Engineer, Telecommunications and SecurityWorking LocationSouth East England, United KingdomHybrid working with strong remote flexibilityContract TypePermanentAbout the RoleIf you're a Telecommunications and Security Engineer ready to lead the discipline across major onshore and offshore energy projects, from feasibility through FEED, detailed design, EPC support and decommissioning, this role offers genuine technical breadth and leadership.You will sit within the Instrumentation and Automation function as the Telecommunications and Security discipline lead, running a team of engineers and designers and owning technical integrity, deliverables, budget, and schedule across the full project lifecycle.Why This Role Stands OutPrincipal-level discipline leadership across the full project lifecycleBroad technical scope spanning telecoms, security, marine, navigational, and ICT systemsHybrid working with strong remote flexibilityInternational project exposure with short-term site and office visits worldwideContinuous learning and professional development built into the roleKey ResponsibilitiesLead a team of engineers and designers across small and large projectsPerform detailed calculations, including optical link budgets and volt dropPrepare and check telecommunications and security deliverables, including philosophies, specifications, block diagrams, and architecturesProduce cable lists and schedules, CCTV and PA/GA coverage studies, bills of materials and material take-offsSupport designers on cable routings, control room and equipment room layoutsCarry out technical bid evaluations and liaise with telecommunications and security suppliersAttend and run factory and site acceptance tests and inspectionsAttend plot plan, 3D model, and coverage study reviewsContribute to cross-discipline documents, including electrical loads, heat dissipation, weights, and plot plansSupport manhour estimates and planning for proposals and budgetsRequirementsProven knowledge of telecommunications and security requirements across oil and gas, carbon capture, and renewablesExperience on both onshore and offshore projectsDetailed experience of fibre optic networks (including subsea), PA/GA, process CCTV, and telecommunications and security cabling infrastructureKnowledge of navigational and marine systems, such as radar and vessel traffic systems, automatic identification systems, man overboard systems, SOLAS-compliant systems, and berthing aidsKnowledge of security systems, including access control, intrusion detection, security CCTV, and radar video surveillanceWorking knowledge of ICT, including wide and local area networks, IP telephony, UHF/VHF radio, 5G, and cybersecurity protocolsExperience performing factory acceptance tests, with site acceptance and commissioning experience advantageousBachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline, with professional accreditation preferredHow to ApplyPlease submit your CV or contact details to the recruitment consultant managing this role and they will be in touch.TPBN1_UKTJ
