Job Description

Location: ScotlandWorking pattern: Full-timeAbout the roleThis is a great opportunity for a part-qualified accountant to take the next step in their career within a structured, client-facing practice environment. Sitting above bookkeeping within the delivery team, you'll prepare management accounts for a portfolio of clients, support month-end and year-end processes, and contribute to high-quality financial reporting outputs all while continuing to progress towards full qualification.What you'll be doingPreparing monthly and quarterly management accounts for a portfolio of clients to a draft-ready standard, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and variance commentaryPerforming month-end close procedures, including prepayments, accruals, depreciation, and intercompany adjustmentsReviewing bookkeeping outputs completed by junior team members and providing constructive feedbackPreparing and submitting VAT returns accurately and in compliance with Making Tax Digital requirementsSupporting year-end preparation, including schedules and working papers for statutory accounts and audit readinessAssisting with new client onboarding, including chart of accounts setup, data migration checks, and Xero configurationLiaising directly with clients to explain management accounts outputs, variances, and financial performanceMaintaining accurate records within Karbon and the team's document management systemsActively engaging with training and development activities in support of ongoing qualification progressWhat you'll bringMinimum five years' experience in an accounting, finance, or practice environmentDemonstrable experience preparing or contributing to management accountsSolid grounding in double-entry accounting, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliationsWorking knowledge of VAT, including standard, flat rate, and cash accounting schemesProficiency in Xero; experience with Dext, Karbon, or Silverfin is an advantageCurrently studying towards AAT Level 4, ACA, or ACCA (part-qualified)AAT Level 3 completed or in progressStrong attention to detail and the ability to manage a varied client portfolio to deadlineClear, confident communication skills for client-facing workDesirableAAT Level 4 completed or near completionACA/ACCA student registered with a recognised bodyExperience in an outsourced or multi-client environmentAwareness of FRS 102 reporting requirementsWhat's on offerA structured role with clear progression towards full qualificationExposure to a varied client portfolio across a supportive outsourced accounting teamActive support for your professional development and studyAdditional informationWe are committed to building an inclusive team and welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds.You may have experience of the following: Part Qualified Accountant, Accounts Semi-Senior, Accounts Assistant, Junior Accountant, Management Accountant, Practice Accountant, Outsourced Accountant, AAT Accountant, Finance Assistant, Client AccountantREF-229 578TPBN1_UKTJ
