Job Description

Infrastructure Linux Engineer with SC ClearanceThe Bank has a requirement for an experienced Linux Admins/Engineers to join Digital Platforms which is involved in the standards, development and maintenance of a number of systems across the organisation. The resource would work on a mixture of BAU / Continuous Improvement works.The Linux Engineer will be involved in the following activities, amongst others: Provisioning of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8 to 10) systems in both physical and virtual environmentsIn-Situ upgrading of RHEL servers using LEAPP upgrade toolDevelopment of scripts for automated configuration management, monitoring, batch and deployment activitiesProvide recommendations for improvements to current delivery and operational processes and proceduresAdvise project managers on Linux-related technical and delivery mattersEssential Skills/Competencies Previous experience in a technical position within Linux platform support and/or deliveryFamiliarity with request, problem and project management processes and toolsDetail oriented, process driven, highly innovative mindset, with deeply engrained sense of ownership for the projects deliveredProven track record of working well under pressure and thinking clearly in challenging situations in a logical mannerProven track record of being flexible in approach and inventive in order to deliver the right outcomesStrong customer focus and an excellent ability to manage customer relationships and understand requirements and expectationsAdept at stakeholder communications, from senior level to domain-wide engagement eventsA broad and deep understanding of best practice in applying appropriate processes, technologies, and resources to deliver a high quality solutionsExperienced in managing risk, compliance, audit and security obligations, including implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity proceduresTechnical Skills & RequirementsEssential Experience of managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux production systems (RHEL 7 through to 10)Experience of using scripting to automate tasksPlanning and prioritising of project delivery activitiesGood interpersonal and communication skillsStrong analytical and troubleshooting skillsExperience with virtualisation technologies (Linux under VMWare)Experience of working within the ITIL frameworkExperience of managing systems with RHN satelliteDesirable Recent experience with JBossLinux performance tuning skillsExperience with Linux failover clusteringExperience of Kerberos in regards to securing Linux applications and AD integration.Experience of Cisco UCS hardware.Experience in managing third party engineersExperience in resource and workload managementService-orientated customer facing skillsDisaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning and executionProven skills in aligning IT with organisational driversIndustry awareness to identify improvement opportunities and implement them acrossthe services and processes incorporated within the domainGeneral knowledge of all areas of IT application and infrastructureDetailed understanding of processes and systems within the domain of expertiseKnowledge of Puppet or similar configuration management toolsKnowledge of big data platforms, e.g. Horton Works, Hadoop etc.TPBN1_UKTJ
