Role Profile: Schemes Underwriter – MGA (UK Insurance Market)
\nLocation: UK (Hybrid/Flexible)Salary: Circa £50,000 + benefits
\nOverview We are seeking an experienced Schemes Underwriter to join a growing Managing General Agent (MGA) within the UK insurance market. This role focuses on the development, management, and profitability of delegated authority schemes, working closely with brokers, capacity providers, and internal stakeholders.
\nKey Responsibilities

- Underwrite and manage a portfolio of delegated authority schemes in line with agreed underwriting guidelines and capacity provider requirements. \n
- Assess risk, pricing, and coverage to ensure profitability and compliance with underwriting strategy. \n
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, partners, and insurers to support scheme growth and retention. \n
- Monitor scheme performance, including loss ratios, trends, and exposures; take corrective action where required. \n
- Collaborate with capacity providers on bordereaux reporting, audits, and performance reviews. \n
- Support the development and launch of new schemes, including product design, rating structures, and underwriting frameworks. \n
- Ensure compliance with FCA regulations and internal governance standards. \n
- Contribute to continuous improvement of underwriting processes, systems, and controls. \n
Key Skills and Experience
\n- \n
- Proven experience in schemes or delegated authority underwriting within the UK insurance market (essential). \n
- Strong technical underwriting knowledge across commercial or specialist lines (class-agnostic depending on business focus). \n
- Experience working within an MGA or delegated authority environment is highly desirable. \n
- Ability to analyse data, interpret trends, and make commercially sound underwriting decisions. \n
- Strong broker relationship management and negotiation skills. \n
- Familiarity with bordereaux management and capacity provider reporting requirements. \n
- Good understanding of FCA regulatory requirements and conduct risk. \n
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. \n
