Job Description

Join this company on the next stage of its exciting development. They were spun out of Cambridge University over 10 years ago and have plenty of funding. They have developed fascinating products, which have a variety of applications.

Over the last two years they have been commercialising these products and turnover has grown from £200,000 to £3 million. The business is set to grow much further and could become a £100 million company over the next few years.

\n

Due to the promotion of the current Head of Finance to CEO, the business is looking for an outstanding all round qualified accountant, who has worked within growing SME's and who has great communication skills coupled with a focus on having a commercial outlook.

Key elements of the role include:

  • Mentoring and development of one member of staff
  • \n
  • Implementing robust systems and processes which will weather the company growth. The company currently uses a basic Xero package.
  • \n
  • Overseeing the day to day finance operations and management accounts production
  • \n
  • Developing and implementing costing and forecasting processes for development projects
  • \n
  • Maintaining accurate BOM costing schedules for production
  • \n
  • Financial planning, forecasting and budgeting
  • \n
  • Preparing and submitting financial returns for grant claims
  • \n
  • Working on R+D tax credits
  • \n
  • Providing financial input into customer contracts, pricing and supplier negotiations.
  • \n
  • Acting as a key business partner to the wider leadership team
  • \n
In order t0 gain an interview, you must be a qualified accountant, who can give examples at interview of where you have had to think commercially and communicate with different types of people across a business, adding value. You must also demonstrate that you are used to working with growing SME's and understand what it takes to be successful within one. \n
