Interim Membership & Education Director 6-month Fixed-Term Contract | 35 hours per weekSalary: £70,000 (pro rata equivalent)Hybrid working: Minimum 2 days per week in the London office Lead change. We are seeking an experienced and inspiring senior leader to join a leading international professional membership organisation as Interim Membership & Education Director This is a significant opportunity to lead membership growth, professional development, education activity and international engagement at a time of organisational transformation. Reporting directly to the CEO and acting as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will play a key role in delivering strategic priorities, enhancing the member experience and ensuring operational excellence across Membership and Education functions. Leading a multi-disciplinary team, including international colleagues, you will oversee services spanning membership recruitment and engagement, professional development, examinations, regional group support and international growth initiatives.What you'll be doing:\n

  • Providing strategic leadership for Membership and Education activities across the organisation.
  • \n
  • Leading and developing managers and teams to deliver high-quality services and operational performance.
  • \n
  • Driving membership growth, retention and engagement across all membership grades.
  • \n
  • Supporting and strengthening regional and international member communities.
  • \n
  • Building strong relationships with professional bodies, employers, higher education institutions and sector stakeholders.
  • \n
  • Leading the implementation of new membership pathways, initiatives and professional development opportunities.
  • \n
  • Managing departmental budgets, forecasting and performance reporting.
  • \n
  • Championing data governance, compliance and continuous improvement across membership operations.
  • \n
  • Representing the organisation at meetings, events, conferences and external forums.
  • \n
What we're looking for:You will bring significant leadership experience within a membership, professional institution, licensing or regulatory environment, alongside a strong understanding of how effective membership strategies can drive growth, engagement and organisational impact.We're particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:\n

  • Significant experience leading teams and delivering organisational objectives through others.

  • Strong knowledge of membership recruitment, retention and progression pathways.
  • \n
  • Experience of working with committees, volunteer networks or governance structures.
  • \n
  • A track record of delivering complex programmes and organisational improvements involving multiple stakeholders.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication, influencing and relationship management skills.
  • \n
  • Confidence presenting at senior level and representing an organisation externally.
  • \n
  • Strong commercial awareness, including budget management and reporting.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of professional development frameworks, compliance and data governance.
  • \n
