Job Description

EstimatorNelsonWe are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Estimator to take a leading role in the pre-construction phase of projects. This is a key position responsible for delivering accurate cost planning, managing tender processes, and working collaboratively with internal teams, clients, and the supply chain to ensure successful project outcomes.Key ResponsibilitiesTake financial lead during the pre-contract stage of construction projectsPrepare detailed cost estimates including subcontractors, materials, labour, plant, and utilitiesAnalyse drawings, specifications, and construction documents to produce accurate pricingDevelop and manage pre-qualification and tender submissionsPlan, organise, and schedule project work to meet budget and programme requirementsEngage with the supply chain to ensure robust pricing and buildable solutionsEnsure all tender documentation and budgets are submitted in line with deadlinesRegularly report to senior management and maintain clear communication with clientsIdentify risks and develop contingency plans to manage cost and programme exposureStay up to date with estimating software and industry best practicesCollaborate with design teams to guide cost-effective design solutionsBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and stakeholdersSupport the seamless handover from estimating to delivery/contract teamsPrepare subcontract enquiry packages and manage procurement activitiesMeasure and procure packages including groundworks, masonry, joinery, and finishesLead and participate in meetings with clients, consultants, and project teamsAssess contractual risks and review amendments within project agreementsManage and maintain estimating systems, including Causeway softwareAbout YouProven background in Quantity Surveying / Estimating within constructionStrong commercial awareness with the ability to meet tight deadlinesExcellent knowledge of reading and interpreting drawings and specificationsConfident communicator with strong written and presentation skillsHighly organised with strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilityAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentPositive attitude, adaptable, and a strong team playerExperience using Causeway Estimating software (desirable)Comfortable engaging with clients and stakeholders at all levelsWillingness to travel for site visits and client meetings when requiredWhat's on OfferOpportunity to play a key strategic role in pre-construction deliveryCollaborative, forward-thinking working environmentExposure to a variety of high-quality construction projectsCareer progression and professional development opportunitiesTPBN1_UKTJ
