Job Description: Stores / Sales Assistant (Engineering & Industrial) Job Title: Stores / Sales AssistantDepartment: Stores / SalesReports To: Stores Manager / Office ManagerSalary Range: £25,000 - £35,000 per annum - dependent on experienceJob Purpose We are seeking a technically minded and customer-focused Stores / Sales Assistant to join our busy engineering and industrial supply operation. This is a pivotal, dual-function role that bridges the gap between the sales desk and the warehouse. You will be responsible for providing an exceptional level of service to both internal and external customers, leveraging your engineering knowledge to identify the correct components and solutions, while managing the physical flow of stock through the storesThis role is ideally suited to someone with an engineering background - either professional or as a knowledgeable hobbyist, who enjoys "hands-on" problem-solving and has a passion for industrial productsKey Responsibilities Sales & Customer ServiceCustomer Support: Act as the first point of contact on the trade counter and via telephone, handling incoming sales enquiries, advising customers on product selection, and providing technical insight on hydraulic, pneumatic, and other industrial componentsQuotations & Order Processing: Process customer orders and quotations accurately, negotiating prices in line with company guidelines and achieving deadlines for submissionsRelationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to ensure repeat business and loyalty. Actively identify up-selling opportunities and support external sales staff where requiredStores & Warehouse OperationsGoods Inwards/Outwards: Manage the receipt of deliveries, checking accuracy against paperwork, and coordinate the dispatch of goods, including packing and shippingInventory Management: Monitor stock levels, conduct regular cycle counts and stock-taking activities, and ensure inventory records are updated accurately within the computerised stock management systemWarehouse Maintenance: Maintain an efficient and safe storage environment, ensuring correct location of stock and promoting a high level of quality and safety within the departmentPerson Specification Experience & KnowledgeProven experience in a stores, warehouse, or trade counter environment, ideally within the industrial or engineering sector e.g., Compressed Air, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Electrical Wholesale, Lifting Equipment, or MRO suppliesTechnical Knowledge: A sound understanding or keen interest in engineering components, industrial parts, or technical productsComputer Literacy: Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and a working knowledge of a stock management e.g. Protean / Job Logic, is highly beneficialSkills & AttributesCustomer Focus: Excellent communication skills with a confident telephone manner and a commitment to providing the highest level of customer serviceOrganisation: Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise workload effectively in a fast-paced reactionary environmentInitiative: A self-motivated individual who can work both independently and as part of a teamHealth & Safety: Awareness of workplace health and safety practicesDesirableA Counterbalance Forklift Truck - FLT licenceExperience with CRM softwareWorking Conditions Full-time, PermanentMonday to Friday - 7.30am - 4.30pmThis role is based on-site at our warehouse/office premisesPackage & Benefits :Overtime and Quarterly profit share bonusesPrivate medical and dental cashback scheme + Wellbeing and assistance programmeCompany Pension scheme + 23+ days holiday plus bank holidaysTPBN1_UKTJ
