Field Service EngineerWoking/Hybrid (2 - 3 days wfh)Join a 24/7 on-call rota (1 week in 4)£60,000 - £70,000 (depending on experience)Candidates must be willing and eligible to go through SC and DV security clearanceIf you've served in the RAF, Royal Signals, 14 Signal Regiment, REME or another defence communications or infrastructure role, and enjoy solving technical problems where reliability really matters, we'd like to hear from you. We're recruiting a Field Service Engineer to support advanced defence technology across secure customer sites throughout the UK for a client who are a leading tech and engineering firm operating within defence.This isn't a desk-based support role.You'll be out with customers maintaining critical systems, supporting military exercises, carrying out technology upgrades, diagnosing complex faults and ensuring operational capability is always maintained. Whether your experience comes from deployed operations, secure headquarters, NATO exercises or supporting classified infrastructure, your background is highly relevant.The OpportunityThe Field Service Engineer plays a key role in delivering high-quality support to customers across the UK and international locations. The role involves regular communication with internal teams, customers, and suppliers to ensure efficient service delivery and consistently high levels of customer satisfaction to drive sustainable and profitable business growth.You'll need a solid understanding of IT infrastructure, networks & networking, Radio Frequency, and experience of working with/for the MoD.Key ResponsibilitiesCommission, configure and support secure networking and encryption equipmentCarry out planned maintenance, patching, firmware updates and system audits across customer sitesDiagnose and repair complex hardware faults through structured root cause analysisInstall, configure and maintain Windows Server, virtualised environments and secure network infrastructureSupport military exercises, demonstrations, customer trials and acceptance testingDeliver operator and maintainer training to end usersProvide 1st and 2nd line remote technical support for customersAct as the technical interface between customers, engineering, logistics and project teamsProduce detailed service reports, technical documentation and knowledge base articlesSupport software releases, deployments, configuration management and hardware lifecycle activitiesAnalyse field performance data to drive continuous improvements across products and support servicesParticipate in a 24/7 on-call rota (1 week in 4)We're looking for engineers with experience in:Royal Air Force, Royal Signals, 14 Signal Regiment, REME or Defence CommunicationsMoD engineering or secure defence environmentsRadio Frequency (RF) systems and secure communicationsCisco networking, routers, switches and firewallsWindows Server 2016/2019/2022VMware ESXi and/or Microsoft Hyper-VLAN, WAN and VLAN networkingEncryption and cryptographic devicesHardware installation, fault finding, preventative maintenance and lifecycle managementCustomer-facing engineering and stakeholder communicationProducing technical documentation, service reports and maintenance recordsWorking within controlled change, release and configuration management processesSupporting operational or deployed defence infrastructureYou'll needHNC/HND or Degree in Engineering (or equivalent military experience)Full UK Driving LicenceWillingness and eligibility to obtain SC and DV Security ClearanceFlexibility to travel to customer sites, with occasional overseas travelAvailability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rota (1 week in 4)Why Join?You'll continue supporting technology that genuinely matters while working with some of the UK's most advanced defence systems.The role offers a great balance of field engineering and hybrid working, exposure to cutting-edge secure technology, direct engagement with defence customers and the opportunity to influence future product improvements through your technical expertise.If you've commissioned secure communications, supported classified infrastructure, maintained operational military systems or deployed defence technology in demanding environments, we'd love to hear from you.If you are interested in this role, please submit your CVTPBN1_UKTJ
