We're not looking for someone to manage existing accounts or maintain relationships that are already in place.We're looking for someone who knows how to win work, build relationships with the right people and create opportunities from scratch.Construction sales experience is essential.This role is not suited to someone from recruitment or hire sales. You must understand how construction projects are secured and have an established network of decision makers across contractors, developers, consultants or end clients.Just as importantly, you'll be joining a business that understands relationships take time to build.You'll receive the support, backing and time needed to get up to speed, learn the business and develop a strong pipeline. You won't be expected to produce results overnight.The RoleYou'll be responsible for identifying and securing new project opportunities, developing relationships with key decision makers and positioning the business early in the project lifecycle.Your responsibilities will include:Identifying and targeting new project opportunitiesBuilding relationships with main contractors, developers, consultants and client-side decision makersCreating opportunities before projects reach tender stageDeveloping and managing a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunitiesSecuring invitations to tender and framework opportunitiesRepresenting the business at networking events and industry meetingsWorking closely with the estimating and pre-construction teams to support successful bidsKeeping up to date with market activity, competitor movements and future projectsReporting on pipeline activity and business development performanceAbout YouYou'll already have a successful track record in construction business development and understand what it takes to generate new opportunities.We're looking for someone who has:Proven business development or sales experience within the construction industryAn established network of decision makers that can be developed into future opportunitiesExperience generating and winning new businessA good understanding of procurement routes and how projects are awardedStrong commercial awarenessExcellent communication and relationship-building skillsA proactive approach with the drive to develop new opportunitiesExisting relationships are a key part of this role.
