General Adult Psychiatrist with Faculty Responsibilities

Our organization is seeking a dedicated psychiatrist to join our team in Hagerstown, MD.

Compensation Package

  • Base salary of $350,000

  • Sign-on bonus of $50,000

  • Relocation assistance up to $50,000

  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM

  • Involvement in inpatient, outpatient, and consultative psychiatry

  • Dedicated faculty time (0.1 FTE) allocated for teaching

Clinical Responsibilities

This position encompasses a diverse range of psychiatric practices across various settings:

Inpatient & Acute Care Services

  • 12-bed Adult Acute Psychiatry Unit (both voluntary and involuntary admissions)

  • 6-bed Crisis Stabilization Unit for substance use withdrawal and stabilization

  • Consult-Liaison Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine consultations

  • Psychiatric emergency department consultation service supported by dedicated behavioral health social workers

Outpatient Services

  • Behavioral Health Urgent Care

  • Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP)

  • Therapeutic services provided by a team of 10 licensed mental health clinicians

  • Telepsychiatry services available

Patient Demographics

Provide care to adults experiencing a wide range of psychiatric disorders, including:

  • Major Depressive Disorder

  • Bipolar Disorder

  • Schizophrenia-spectrum disorders

  • Anxiety disorders

  • Substance Use Disorders

  • Functional Neurologic Disorders

Care typically involves managing suicidal thoughts, psychosis, mania, substance withdrawal, capacity evaluations, and medication/psychotherapy management.

Typical Patient Load

  • Inpatient: 6-12 patients per day

  • Consult-Liaison: 4-6 patients per day

  • Addiction consultations: 3-4 patients per day

  • Crisis Stabilization Unit: approximately 3 patients daily

  • Outpatient: 1-hour initial visits, 15-30 minute follow-ups

Academic and Faculty Engagement

Become part of a thriving academic psychiatry department that includes:

  • 8 psychiatrists and 2 nurse practitioners

  • 5 psychiatry residents per class

  • Clinical supervision of residents and medical students

  • Opportunities for didactic teaching, lectures, advising, research, and committee involvement

Faculty members are granted protected educational time (0.1 FTE) for their teaching duties.

Work Schedule and On-Call Duties

  • Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM

  • Weekday on-call from home (maximum once per week)

  • Weekend on-call rotation approximately every 6 weeks

  • Expansion of resident call coverage starting Summer 2026

  • 24/7 Emergency Psychiatric Services team available for ED coverage

  • Case management and social work support across inpatient and consult services

  • Dedicated outpatient psychotherapy staff
