Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Registered Dental Hygienist to join our team in Rockledge, FL, focusing on delivering top-notch preventive and periodontal care. This role includes both full-time and part-time/PRN opportunities within a bustling restorative and surgical practice.

The perfect candidate will possess strong clinical skills, a gentle approach with patients, and a commitment to patient education, along with meticulous documentation practices. You will collaborate closely with our doctors and support staff to ensure excellent patient outcomes and experiences.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Hygiene Care
  • Conduct prophylaxis (cleanings), scaling and root planing, and periodontal maintenance therapy.
  • Perform comprehensive periodontal evaluations, including charting pocket depths, recession, bleeding points, and mobility.
  • Administer preventive treatments such as fluoride, sealants, and desensitizing agents.
  • Carry out and document oral cancer screenings and head/neck examinations.
  • Provide local anesthesia and nitrous oxide as permitted by Florida regulations and certification.
Assessment, Imaging & Documentation
  • Capture and store digital radiographs (intraoral, panoramic) in compliance with Florida dental radiography standards.
  • Take intraoral photographs and digital scans as necessary, ensuring accurate linkage to patient records.
  • Review and update medical/dental histories, highlighting any findings or concerns for the doctor.
  • Maintain precise, timely, and compliant clinical documentation using practice-management software, such as Dentrix.
Patient Education & Experience
  • Inform patients about oral hygiene, home care, periodontal health, and the connection between oral and overall health.
  • Assist in communicating treatment plans and securing case acceptance alongside the doctor.
  • Establish trust and rapport to enhance patient retention and referrals.
Sterilization, Compliance & Operations
  • Prepare, clean, and sterilize instruments and operatories in accordance with OSHA and CDC infection-control standards.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, the Florida Board of Dentistry, and organizational protocols.
  • Monitor and replenish hygiene operatory supplies; work with the team to maintain an efficient schedule.
QualificationsRequired
  • Active Florida Dental Hygienist license in good standing.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited institution.
  • Current Florida dental radiography certification to expose radiographs.
  • Current BLS / CPR certification.
  • Strong understanding of periodontal therapy, preventive care, and dental terminology.
  • Proficient in dental practice-management / EHR software and digital imaging.
  • Excellent communication skills, chairside manner, and attention to detail.
Preferred
  • Florida certification for administering local anesthesia and/or nitrous oxide.
  • Experience in periodontal maintenance and implant care.
  • Familiarity with Dentrix and intraoral scanners.
  • New graduates with strong clinical abilities are encouraged to apply.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform repetitive, precise hand movements.
  • Manual dexterity and close-vision acuity for detailed chairside tasks.
  • Regular exposure to a clinical setting, including bloodborne pathogens, sharps, and dental materials, with appropriate PPE.
  • Capability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
