Our organization is in search of a dedicated Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join our team in Dubuque, Iowa. This full-time role requires a high level of expertise in both perinatal and neonatal health.

The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner will play a crucial role in assessing, evaluating, and treating neonates under the guidance of pediatricians.
Key Responsibilities:- Serve as the mid-level provider for newborn patients by:
- Conducting assessments, planning, and evaluating medical care under the supervision of the attending pediatrician.
- Providing accurate and concise reports to the attending pediatrician and maintaining problem-oriented documentation.
- Ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and plain x-ray films as necessary.
- Writing orders for medications, IV therapy, parental nutrition, blood products, and managing admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Attending high-risk deliveries, performing resuscitation, and stabilizing patients.
- Preparing infants for transport to facilities that offer a higher level of care.
- Provide care for all newborns during deliveries, ensuring resuscitation and stabilization as required.
- Consult with administrative, nursing, and medical staff as needed.
- Engage in ongoing competency assessments to maintain advanced neonatal knowledge and skills among nursing staff.
- Participate in nursing education and competency evaluations.
- Pursue self-development through readings, lectures, and formal educational programs.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and assist in the development, revision, and implementation of policies and procedures in the Birth Center.
- Completion of an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program.
- Possession of an unrestricted Iowa State License.
- A minimum of two years of experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
- Ability to work independently, as only one NNP will be scheduled per shift, covering the level II NICU, nursery rounds, attending deliveries, and performing circumcisions.
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP.
- Strong clinical knowledge, competencies, and analytical skills to develop nursing and medical interventions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare personnel.
