\nJersey Shore University Medical Center (JSUMC) is seeking an experienced physician leader for the pivotal role of Chief Physician Advisor. This is a 100% administrative position reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer, designed for a strategic leader passionate about optimizing hospital performance.
\nAs the Chief Physician Advisor, you will be the hospital's foremost expert on care progression, documentation integrity, and utilization management. You will integrate clinical operations, data analytics, and payer strategy to drive measurable improvements in a large, tertiary academic medical center. This is a unique opportunity to shape clinical operations, mentor a dedicated team, and leverage cutting-edge technology to make a significant impact on patient care and hospital performance.
\nKey Responsibilities:
\n? Provide Senior Leadership: Serve as the primary advisor to the CMO, lead the JSUMC Physician Advisor team, and oversee Utilization Review to align strategies with hospital-wide quality, safety, and financial goals.
\n? Drive Clinical & Financial Optimization: Masterfully oversee Utilization Management (UM), Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI), and denial prevention to improve throughput, reduce length of stay, and ensure accurate reimbursement.
\n? Innovate with Technology: Champion the use of advanced informatics, including Epic-enhanced dashboards, predictive analytics, and AI-supported tools to enhance documentation and coding accuracy.
\n? Lead and Educate: Develop and implement a robust education curriculum for medical staff, residents, and APPs, fostering a culture of compliance and documentation excellence.
\nRequired Qualifications:
\n? Physician (MD or DO) licensed in New Jersey
\n? Minimum of 10 years of hospital-based clinical experience
\n? Demonstrated expertise in Utilization Management, Clinical Documentation, or Case Management
\n? Strong knowledge of CMS regulations (including the Two-Midnight Rule)
\nPreferred Qualifications:
\n? Prior experience as a Physician Advisor or Medical Director in UM/CDI
\n? Experience with Epic and AI-enabled UM/CDI tools
\n? Formal performance improvement training

\nInternal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the specialty and/or sub-specialty.
\nBudget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.
