Job Description
Our organization is on the lookout for a dedicated and skilled Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) to join our team in Rockledge, Florida. This role focuses on delivering outstanding preventive and periodontal care within a bustling restorative and surgical practice. We have openings for both full-time and part-time/PRN positions.
The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, a gentle demeanor, and a personable approach with patients. You should excel in patient education and maintain meticulous documentation. Collaboration with our doctors and assisting team is essential to ensure exceptional patient outcomes and experiences.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Hygiene Care- Conduct prophylaxis (cleanings), scaling and root planing, and periodontal maintenance therapy.
- Perform comprehensive periodontal evaluations, including charting pocket depths, recession, bleeding points, and mobility.
- Administer preventive treatments such as fluoride, sealants, and desensitizing agents.
- Carry out and document oral cancer screenings and head/neck examinations.
- Provide local anesthesia and nitrous oxide as permitted by Florida regulations and certification.
- Capture and store digital radiographs (intraoral and panoramic) in compliance with Florida dental radiography standards.
- Take intraoral photographs and digital scans as necessary, linking them accurately to patient records.
- Review and update medical/dental histories, highlighting any findings or concerns for the doctor.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation using practice-management software, such as Dentrix.
- Inform patients about oral hygiene, home care, periodontal health, and the connection between oral and overall health.
- Assist in communicating treatment plans and facilitating case acceptance alongside the doctor.
- Establish trust and rapport to enhance patient retention and referrals.
- Prepare, clean, and sterilize instruments and operatories following OSHA and CDC infection-control guidelines.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations, Florida Board of Dentistry standards, and internal protocols.
- Monitor and replenish hygiene operatory supplies; work with the team to maintain an efficient schedule.
- Active Florida Dental Hygienist license in good standing.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited institution.
- Current Florida dental radiography certification to expose radiographs.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Strong understanding of periodontal therapy, preventive care, and dental terminology.
- Proficient in dental practice-management/EHR software and digital imaging.
- Excellent communication skills, chairside manner, and attention to detail.
- Florida certification for administering local anesthesia and/or nitrous oxide.
- Experience in periodontal maintenance and implant care.
- Familiarity with Dentrix and intraoral scanners.
- New graduates with strong clinical abilities are encouraged to apply.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform repetitive, precise hand movements.
- Manual dexterity and close-vision acuity for detailed chairside tasks.
- Regular exposure to a clinical setting, including bloodborne pathogens, sharps, and dental materials, with appropriate PPE.
- Capability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
