Mechanical Maintenance Plant FitterTendley Quarry and Asphalt Plant, Cockermouth, CumbriaAre you a skilled Mechanical Fitter who enjoys solving problems, tackling breakdowns and keeping heavy plant running at its best?We're looking for a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Plant Fitter to join our engineering team at Tarmac Tendley Quarry and Asphalt Plant. If you have experience working on conveyors, crushers, screens, pumps, gearboxes or similar industrial equipment and take pride in delivering high-quality maintenance then this could be the role for you!This is an opportunity to work in a varied, fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. You'll play a vital role in maintaining critical plant equipment, improving reliability and helping to keep operations running safely and efficiently.What You'll Be DoingAs part of the site's engineering team, you will:Diagnose faults and carry out planned and reactive maintenanceRespond to breakdowns and deliver effective repair solutionsComplete welding, fabrication and general mechanical fitting tasksSupport plant improvement projects and reliability initiativesWork safely, following risk assessments and company proceduresMaintain accurate maintenance records using the CMMS systemWhat We're Looking ForYou'll be a proactive and practical engineer who can work independently and as part of a team.We'd like to hear from candidates who have:A strong mechanical maintenance background within quarrying, manufacturing, heavy industry, mining, aggregates or a similar environmentExperience working on conveyors, crushers, vibrating screens, gearboxes, motors, pumps or related plant equipmentStrong fault-finding and problem-solving skillsExperience carrying out breakdown and preventative maintenance activitiesGood IT skills and confidence using maintenance systemsA recognised Mechanical Engineering ApprenticeshipONC/HNC qualifications (desirable but not essential)A strong commitment to health, safety and continuous improvementThe role is easily commutable from Workington, Keswick, Whitehaven, Troutbeck, Grasmere, Penrith, Carlisle and surrounding areas.Why TarmacAt Tarmac, who you are matters just as much as what you do.
