Product Safety & Compliance SpecialistIndustry: Ecommerce & Consumer ProductsLocation: York (On-site)Job Type: Full-timeSalary: £30,000 - £35,000The OpportunityAn established and fast-growing ecommerce business within the consumer products sector is seeking a Product Safety & Compliance Specialist to take ownership of UK and EU product compliance across a diverse and expanding product portfolio.This is a hands-on role offering real influence, working closely with Buying, Product, and Operations teams to ensure products are safe, compliant, and ready for market. You will also play a key role in strengthening and improving compliance processes as the business continues to scale.Key ResponsibilitiesTake full ownership of product compliance across UK and EU marketsInterpret and apply relevant regulations, including: UKCA / CE marking requirementsGPSR, EMC, LVD, RoHS, REACHPrepare, review, and maintain: Technical DocumentationDeclarations of ConformityAssess supplier documentation and laboratory test reports, identifying gaps and recommending further testing where requiredEnsure all labelling, safety warnings, and user instructions meet regulatory standardsLiaise directly with suppliers to obtain and validate compliance documentationWork cross-functionally with Buying and Product teams to embed compliance early in the product lifecycleSupport responses to regulatory and marketplace compliance enquiriesMaintain accurate compliance records and contribute to continuous process improvementSkills & Experience RequiredExperience in product compliance, product safety, quality assurance, or regulatory affairs within consumer goods or related industriesStrong knowledge of UKCA and CE marking requirementsProven experience working with: Technical FilesDeclarations of ConformitySupplier compliance documentationExperience reviewing test reports and identifying compliance risksConfident in engaging with and challenging suppliers when requiredHigh attention to detail and strong organisational skillsAbility to manage multiple product categories and competing prioritiesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProactive and solution-oriented mindsetWorking ArrangementsFull-time position (37.5 hours per week)Flexible start times between 08:00 - 09:30, with corresponding finish timesBased on-site in York (5 days per week)Due to location, own transport is essentialBenefitsPrivate medical insurance and employee assistance programmeLife insurance and income protectionEnhanced annual leave + bank holidaysAdditional leave for long serviceEnhanced family leave policiesFlexitime and work-life balance initiativesCycle to work schemeEmployee discounts and wellbeing supportFree parking and regular company social eventsAbout the BusinessThis organisation operates within the ecommerce and retail sector, supplying a broad portfolio of consumer products across home, lifestyle, and seasonal categories.
