An established independent accountancy practice is looking to appoint a Head of Accounting Services to take ownership of a core function within the firm.This role sits at the point where delivery, leadership, and client ownership meet. It offers responsibility for a significant portfolio alongside direct involvement in how the function is structured, managed, and developed.The position is suited to an experienced Manager seeking greater influence and autonomy, or a Senior Manager looking to step into a more defined leadership role within a less layered environment.The Role Responsibility for a portfolio of non-audit clients, typically up to £10m turnoverOversight of statutory accounts, management accounts, and associated advisory workLeadership of a team of approximately 12, with accountability for structure, performance, and developmentOwnership of the payroll function, ensuring compliance and consistent deliveryActing as the primary point of contact for clients, providing commercially focused supportWorking closely with Partners on workflow, resourcing, and service standardsInput into operational and strategic decisions affecting the wider business services functionThe Candidate ACA or ACCA qualifiedStrong background within general practice, ideally focused on business servicesTrack record of managing a client portfolio and reviewing work to a high standardExperience leading and developing teams across multiple levelsCommercial awareness with the confidence to engage directly with SME clientsExposure to payroll oversight would be beneficialTPBN1_UKTJ
