Stress Engineer - Gas Turbine

At Quest Global, UK, we are actively hiring SeniorStress Engineer with previous s tress experience on aero gas turbine or naval marine shipsets to joinone of our Aerospace and Defence projects based in Derby, UK.You must be eligible for SC security clearance due to the nature of the project.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIESDelivering design solutions by carrying out structural & thermal analysis of aero engine and / or naval marine gas turbine components.Linear / Non-linear stress analysis of rotating / static components.Ensure stress reports meet the appropriate levels of quality and robustness and confirm that defined requirements are met.Ensure that all project stakeholders have the right information at the right time, through proactive communication.Support other team members with ongoing / future work packages.SKILLS / COMPETENCIES (ESSENTIAL TO CARRY OUT THIS ROLE)Proven gas turbine / aerospace design / stress capabilitiesGood understanding of gas turbine functionality and operability of major componentsThermo-mechanical & structural analysis of aero engine or turbomachinery componentsLinear / Nonlinear stress analysis of aero enginesKnowledge of Vibration (Campbell Diagram) analysis and forced response harmonic analysis, cyclic symmetrical structures, Creep / PlasticityKnowledge of Low cycle fatigue (LCF) and High cycle fatigue (HCF) calculation methodsKnowledge of Creep, corrosion, erosion and crack propagation assessment of rotating machineryDamage Tolerance / Melt anomaly methods e.g. fracture mechanicsBasic knowledge of transmission / drive systems e.g. shafts and bearingsAbility to communicate effectively with customers and a diverse staff populationAbility to maintain professionalism and confidentiality with proprietary informationTOOL KNOWLEDGEExperience of one or more of these is essential: ANSYS, PLM, UG NX, LS-Dyna, ICEM Meshing, ABAQUS, HYPERWORKS, SCO3Desirable : NASTRAN, PATRAN, SimcenterQUALIFICATIONSGraduate Degree or Masters degree in Engineering (e.g. Aeronautical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering) or equivalent experience in a gas turbine OEMAbout Quest Global : At Quest Global, its not just what we do but how and why we do it that makes us different.
