Your role at a glanceWe are seeking a skilled Mechanical (HVAC & Chillers) Shift Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of HVAC and chilled water systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of chillers, cooling systems, pumps, AHUs, FCUs, and associated mechanical infrastructure while maintaining compliance with safety and industry standards As one of the Shift Engineers, youll be working a 12hr continental shift pattern over a 24/7 rota. What will you do?Providing a customer focused service and a high standard of planned preventative and reactive maintenanceProactively involved in the on-going technical evaluation of all plant and equipment, suggestion of improvements where appropriateAccurately recording and reporting of maintenance activity to ensure Key Source System is correctly updatedCarrying out operational and maintenance activities as directed, ensuring work is executed in a safe and suitable mannerWorking as directed to ensure timely completion of PPMs and reactive work to SLAsBeing the High Voltage Authorized Person & all associated duties including Management of Inspection & Testing programmeSupervising all operational and maintenance activities, to ensure work is executed in a safe and suitable manner and complies with SLAsSupporting the Shift Engineering Teams to ensure correct operation of the critical services of the Data CentersYou will have site sign off for works to take place and to accept successful completion ensuring all RA and MS and other technical sign off is in place prior to allowing works to take place. You will have the responsibility for ensuring all services are delivered to the highest technical standards, minimizing riskTaking responsibility for ensuring services are delivered in accordance with site and best practice processes and proceduresWhat are we looking for?EssentialSeveral years of experience working with HVAC and chiller systems in commercial, industrial, or data center environmentsStrong knowledge of:Chillers (air-cooled and water-cooled)Chilled water systemsCooling towersAHUs, FCUs, and ventilation systemsPumps, valves, and associated mechanical equipmentExperience in fault finding, maintenance planning, and performance optimizationAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and P&IDsFamiliarity with BMS (Building Management Systems) and energy efficiency practicesKnowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulationsStrong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skillsDesiredExperience in critical environments such as data centers or manufacturing facilitiesF-Gas certification or relevant HVAC qualificationsNVQ / City & Guilds in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (Level 2 or 3)Knowledge of predictive and preventative maintenance methodologiesFamiliarity with industry standards and best practices for HVAC systemsThe ability to communicate effectively at all levels with good relationship building skillsTo undergo full security checks to BS7858:2019 standardWho we areAs the third largest data center provider, we operate over 150 data centers in more than 20 countries and regions.
