Senior Electrical EngineerKemsley Paper MillDS Smith's Kemsley Paper Mill is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering Department. This is a key leadership role responsible for the reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement of the site-wide electrical infrastructure.The successful candidate will lead a team of engineers maintaining both HV and LV systems, ensuring full compliance with industry standards and regulations. You will also play a critical role in driving improvements and developing the site's electrical systems to support operational excellence.This position includes responsibilities as the Electrical Duty Holder and Site-appointed HV Senior Authorised Person .Key ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise electrical maintenance activities across site, ensuring safe and effective delivery of workEnsure full compliance with statutory and legal requirements, including the Health and Safety at Work Act and Electricity at Work Regulations 1989Promote and maintain a strong safety culture, supporting risk assessments, Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), and incident investigationsManage and continuously improve the site electrical isolation systems and processesEnsure all electrical systems are compliant with ATEX standards and DSEAR regulationsProvide technical leadership and support for day-to-day maintenance and complex fault resolutionDrive the development and delivery of electrical projects from concept through to completionManage maintenance and project budgets, including forecasting and cost controlUtilise SAP (CMMS) to plan, track, and optimise maintenance activities and workflowsMentor and develop engineers and apprentices, building capability across the teamParticipate in an out-of-hours call-out rota and support operational teams when requiredAbout YouDegree-qualified (BEng or MEng) in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industrial experienceExperience within an industrial or manufacturing environment, including time in a senior roleStrong technical knowledge of HV and LV electrical systems, maintenance strategies, and compliance requirementsProven ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and deliver results in a fast-paced environmentExperience of managing budgets and understanding the commercial impact of engineering decisionsFamiliarity with ATEX and DSEAR regulations and their practical applicationCompetent in the use of CMMS systems such as SAP for maintenance planning and executionStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to take ownership of complex technical issuesEffective communicator with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levelsChartered Engineer (CEng) status, or working towards it, with a recognised professional body (e.g. IET or CIBSE) is desirableWhat we can offer you:Competitive salaryQualifying Sick Pay schemePension scheme & Life insuranceShare Save schemeIncome Protection25 days holiday plus Bank HolidaysEmployee Assistance ProgrammeVirtual GP, Occupational Health & free Flu vaccineCycle to Work and shopping discountsWe are DS Smith, together with International Paper, we are a global leader in sustainable packaging solutions and other fibre-based products.We believe a better, more sustainable tomorrow is possible with the right people, who challenge and support one another to enact positive change.
