Logistics SpecialistLocation: EssexContract type: PermanentShift: Monday to Friday (08:00 - 17:00)Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 per annum + Excellent BenefitsA well-established and growing organisation is seeking a proactive Logistics Specialist to join its Supply Chain team based in Maldon.Key Responsibilities:Review sales orders and coordinate inbound and outbound shipment bookings alongside Customer Service and Planning teamsManage UK and export shipments via road, sea, and air freight, including groupage consignmentsCreate detailed loading plans to maximise vehicle and container utilisationMaintain and update daily warehouse loading schedules, ensuring clear communication of any changesGenerate inventory picking instructions in line with shipment requirementsObtain, compare, and analyse carriage quotations to support commercial decision-makingMaintain transport and shipping cost records and spreadsheetsIdentify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements across logistics activitiesAct as a point of contact for customer enquiries regarding export procedures and transport arrangementsEnsure correct application of Incoterms and compliance with export documentation requirementsPrepare and verify export paperwork and carriage documentationMonitor supplier, carrier, and 3PL performance, implementing corrective actions where requiredLiaise with freight forwarders and transport providers to maintain service levels and cost controlSupport KPI reporting and continuous improvement initiatives within the Supply Chain functionQualifications / Experience:Minimum of 2 years' experience within a transport, logistics, or supply chain environmentStrong understanding of road, sea, and air freight operationsExperience coordinating export shipments and groupage consignmentsKnowledge of export documentation and international shipping proceduresGood understanding of IncotermsExcellent Microsoft Excel and general IT skillsGCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)Industry-recognised Logistics or Supply Chain qualification (IoSCM, CIPS, or similar) - desirableCertificate in Export Documentation - desirableFluent English, both written and verbalSkills & Attributes:Highly organised with exceptional attention to detailStrong communication skills with a customer-focused approachCommercially aware with a focus on cost control and operational efficiencyAble to prioritise workload and work effectively under pressureProactive and solutions-focused mindsetStrong team player who collaborates effectively with internal departments and external partnersExcellent time management and problem-solving abilitiesHours:Full-time, Monday to Friday08:00 - 17:001-hour unpaid lunch breakBenefits:Pension scheme matched up to 7.5%25 days annual leave plus bank holidaysOngoing training and development opportunitiesFriendly and supportive team environmentWellbeing support programmeLong service awardsRecognition and reward for outstanding performanceHow to Apply:Please submit your CV along with your availability.For more information, please contact:Charlie Boulton01453 852544Omega is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
