Help transform lives through skills and educationWe are looking for a committed and adaptable Cover Vocational Tutor to join our Justice Services team. This is a unique opportunity to deliver meaningful learning that supports rehabilitation, builds confidence, and prepares learners for employment.In this role, you will provide vital cover for vocational training, ensuring continuity of learning during staff absence while maintaining high-quality, engaging delivery. You will focus on practical skill development alongside employability, digital literacy, and personal growth.What youll be doingDeliver engaging, hands-on vocational lessons across a range of disciplinesPromote key employability skills such as teamwork, communication, and professionalismEmbed digital literacy into teaching to prepare learners for modern workplacesPlan and adapt inclusive lessons to meet diverse needs, including low literacy and additional learning needsMonitor progress and provide constructive feedback to support achievementUse motivational and restorative approaches to build engagement, confidence, and participationMaintain strict tool security, inventory control, and health & safety standardsComplete key administration including registers, ILPs, assessments, and compliance documentationWork collaboratively with colleagues, prison staff, and support teams to ensure a consistent learner experienceSupport learners in developing their Employability Passport and preparing for qualificationsWhat were looking forEssentialMaths and English Level 2Vocational experience (e.g. construction trades, barbering, hospitality or similar)Teaching qualification (Level 4+) or willingness to achieveStrong communication, organisation, and classroom management skillsAbility to adapt teaching to meet a wide range of learner needsResilience and confidence in managing challenging group environmentsKnowledge of safeguarding, health & safety, and equality practicesExperience in lesson planning, delivery, and learner assessmentPassion for supporting learners to gain skills, confidence, and qualificationsDesirableAssessor qualification (or willingness to work towards)Experience across multiple vocational subject areasUnderstanding of OFSTED EIFExperience using diagnostic tools (e.g. BKSB)What makes this role uniqueWork directly with learners to support rehabilitation and positive outcomesDeliver across a variety of vocational areas including construction and practical tradesPlay a key role in maintaining continuity and quality of educationBe part of a values-driven organisation focused on improving livesOur valuesWere looking for people who demonstrate:Customer First putting learners at the heart of everythingTrue North acting with integrity and high ethical standardsOwn It taking accountability and driving solutionsImprove to be the best striving for continuous improvementApply nowIf youre passionate about vocational education and want to make a genuine difference, wed love to hear from you.TPBN1_UKTJ
