Job Description
Our client is an time established PQS practice employing c15 QS staff in C.London. They're seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor (minimum 3 years' post degree experience) to join the team and provide immediate support across a portfolio of retail, fit-out and residential projects. The role will involve stepping into live schemes currently managed at Associate level, alongside supporting a growing pipeline of commercial and refurbishment work.Some of their current projects including clients such as:New veterinary Clinic – on site to finish in sept 2026Private members club – new Cricket Pavilion - let to contract, post contract workNew co-working building - Fit out works to a listed building in East LondonAirline Lounge redevelopmentRetail unit in Battersea Power Station – agreed final contract sum with contractor, about to start on siteDesirable applicant profile:Proven experience as a professional Quantity Surveyor (retail, fit-out and/or commercial sectors, high end residential experience preferred)Strong all-round commercial capability across pre & post contract dutiesAbility to manage and resolve commercial risks, delays and design changesExperience delivering retail fit-out projects or projects in higher end environmentsConfident managing multiple projects and stepping into live schemesFamiliar with JCT contracts and commercial reporting processesGood Excel & Bluebeam / Cost X skillsIdeally working towards APC / MRICS (Min BSc or MSc QS degree)Full working eligibility to work in UK (no VISA transfer / support offered)Key ResponsibilitiesProject & Commercial ManagementTake ownership of selected live projects from handover, ensuring continuity across pre- and post-contract stagesAdminister contracts (predominantly JCT), including valuations, variations and final accountsManage cost reporting, cashflow forecasting and financial controls across multiple projectsLead on final account negotiations and close-out activitiesPre-Construction & ProcurementPrepare cost plans, tender documentation and undertake tender analysisManage contractor procurement and provide recommendationsSupport value engineering exercises to achieve project budgetsClient & Stakeholder ManagementAct as a key point of contact for clients, consultants and contractorsProvide clear commercial advice and reporting to stakeholdersSupport delivery within constrained environments including liveWhat our client can provide you in return:Opportunity to step into a broad, hands-on role with immediate responsibilityExcellent career support for candidates looking to work towards APC / MRICSExposure to high-profile retail and flagship projectsFlexibility to work 2 days per week from homeStarting salary up to £60k basic + bens (dependent on experience)At mjhr it's simple.
