This role offers a unique opportunity to progress to Commercial Manager, making it ideal for candidates looking to develop their commercial leadership skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full commercial management of civil engineering projects, including cost control, contract administration, procurement, and risk management. You will work closely with project teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with contractual requirements. Your role will involve preparing valuations, managing variations and claims, forecasting costs, and supporting junior commercial staff development. This position requires strong commercial acumen, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of NEC contracts and construction law. You will play a key role in identifying and realising commercial opportunities while mitigating risks, contributing to the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects.Skills:Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering, preferably within utilities or water sectorsStrong knowledge of NEC contracts and contract administrationCommercial management including cost control, forecasting, and budget managementSubcontract procurement, negotiation, and managementPreparation and agreement of valuations, applications for payment, and final accountsRisk management and value engineeringExcellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skillsAbility to mentor and develop junior commercial staffStrong organisational and time management skills, able to work under pressureProficiency in Microsoft Office, especially ExcelSoftware/Tools:Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)Contract management and cost control software (e.g., CEMAR, Oracle)Certifications & Standards:Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or related disciplineCSCS card (desirable)TPBN1_UKTJ
