Job Description

System Performance Engineers are required within one of our client's systems engineering teams. You will provide performance prediction and analysis expertise to major defence programmes, developing the latest Complex Weapons capabilities for the UK Armed Forces in response to advanced threats in all domains (Air, Land, Sea).Responsibilities:You will join a Systems design team on a missile programme. Responsibilities vary depending on the lifecycle stage of any given programme, but will typically include:Assessment of system performance using complex mathematical models (e.g. 6-Degree-of-Freedom (6-DoF) model): Developing a good understanding of how the wider system affects performance and the knock-on impacts of changes to the designFor example, assessing the impact of algorithm, subsystem, or physical property changes on the safe release envelope or performance envelope of the system, against a defined set of requirementsAssessments at all phases of the lifecycle: informing requirements at system and subsystem levelassessing against the requirements throughout concept, assessment and demonstration phases in support of product review gatessupport to pre- and post- firing trial planning and analysis (supporting development and /or system verification)production of final verification evidence (e.g. Performance Statement) for the customer at the completion of developmentin-service-support and product evolution assessmentsGeneration of Missile / Weapon performance boundary data for hosting in launch platform / system (i.e. LAR / WEZ / Range Ring data) via large scale modelling studies and mass data processingSkills required:Use of mathematical models to assess behaviour of dynamic systemsData analysis using Matlab and Simulink (or similar)Capturing and presenting technical data in a clear and concise for expert and non-expert audiencesExposure to the physical principles of aerodynamics, propulsion, guidance and control, and RF or IR seeker technologySystems engineering experience in system performance and the functional chain domainSystems engineering experience at multiple phases of the lifecycle such as requirements, system architecture, verification and certification.Possession of excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and the capability to write clear, concise engineering documentationGood verbal communication, listening and time management skillsAbility to engage with subject matter experts and grow your knowledge of new technical areasTPBN1_UKTJ
