Financial Controller Freight

An established and growing international freight forwarding company is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of the company's day to day finance function.This is a handson role suited to someone who enjoys working independently and has strong bookkeeping and financial control experience. You will work closely with the Managing Director, providing financial reporting and ensuring the smooth running of all accounting processes.Key Responsibilities Sales Ledger Credit control and debt collectionSending customer statementsCarrying out credit checks and setting credit limitsPurchase Ledger Processing and approving supplier invoicesReconciling supplier statementsPreparing supplier payment runsManaging overseas payments through FX accountsAdministering forward currency contracts (USD & EUR)Reconciling bank accounts, HMRC deferment statements and other financial recordsFinancial Control Managing company cash flowDaily transfer of financial data from Boxtop to SageUpdating exchange rates within BoxtopMonitoring and minimising foreign exchange lossesPreparing year-end accounts for external accountantsReviewing statutory accounts prior to Companies House filingReporting Producing monthly profit reports for the Managing DirectorPreparing additional financial reports as requiredCompliance Preparing and submitting VAT returnsSupporting other statutory and HMRC requirementsPlease note: Sales invoices are prepared by the Operations team.Key Skills Previous experience as a Financial Controller or Senior BookkeeperStrong all-round bookkeeping and accounting knowledgeExperience using SageExcellent reconciliation skills and attention to detailExperience managing cash flow and financial reportingThe ability to work independently and prioritise workloadStrong communication and organisational skillsDesirable Previous experience withinfreight forwarding, logistics or shippingExperience using Boxtop softwareKnowledge of foreign currency transactions and forward contractsIf you're an experienced finance professional looking for a varied role where you can make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you.TPBN1_UKTJ
