Job Description:Aircraft FitterJM Selection are recruiting Skilled Composite Aircraft Fitters on behalf of a leading aerospace manufacturer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a world-class engineering environment working on complex aircraft wing assemblies and sub-assemblies, supporting the manufacture of advanced aerospace components.The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling composite and metallic aircraft structures to exacting aerospace standards, working from technical drawings, engineering specifications and approved manufacturing processes.This role would suit experienced aircraft fitters, composite technicians, aerospace assemblers, mechanical fitters or skilled manufacturing operatives with a recognised engineering qualification.Key ResponsibilitiesAssemble composite and metallic aircraft components and assemblies in accordance with engineering specifications and technical drawings.Carry out trimming and finishing operations on composite and ancillary materials to close tolerances.Perform drilling, reaming and countersinking operations on composite and metallic components.Set and position aircraft components within calibrated assembly jigs and fixtures.Conduct deburring and under-head radius preparation on aircraft components and assemblies.Carry out fettling activities using approved and calibrated tooling.Use nut runners, calibrated torque guns and associated assembly equipment.Complete work to aerospace quality standards whilst maintaining full traceability.Self-certify completed work in line with company procedures and competencies.Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance safety, quality and productivity.Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Health & Safety requirements and company procedures.Maintain a clean, organised and professional working environment.Essential QualificationsCompleted Engineering Apprenticeship or recognised equivalent qualification.Minimum Level 3 qualification in an engineering or manufacturing discipline.Skills & ExperiencePrevious experience within aerospace, engineering, manufacturing or composite assembly environments.Ability to assemble and trim composite and ancillary materials to close tolerances.Strong hand skills and excellent attention to detail.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.Understanding of aerospace quality standards and manufacturing processes.Experience working with calibrated tools and measuring equipment.Ability to operate CNC machinery and associated manufacturing processes where required.Strong understanding of safe working practices within a manufacturing environment.Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Willingness to undertake further training and development.Competent using IT systems including SAP and Microsoft Office packages.What We OfferCompetitive hourly rates from £23.59 to £36.86 per hour .Regular overtime opportunities.Long-term ongoing work with potential temp-to-perm opportunities.Industry-leading aerospace manufacturing environment.Comprehensive training and development.Opportunity to work on advanced aircraft programmes.Modern facilities and supportive team culture.Available Shift PatternsOption 1 12/7 Days Shift PatternAverage 40.25 hours per weekWorking Hours: 6:00am 6:00pmWeek 1:MondayTuesdayFridaySaturdaySundayWeek 2:WednesdayThursdayThis rotating pattern provides regular extended periods away from work whilst maintaining full-time hours.Option 2 Core Nights37.5 hours per weekMonday Wednesday: 8:00pm 6:00amThursday: 7:00pm 4:30amIf you are a skilled aerospace fitter, composite technician or engineering professional looking to join a highly respected aerospace manufacturer, we would like to hear from you.
