Materials/Field Technician

MSS Mattest Site Services, a UKAS-accredited laboratory, is a recognised name in construction materials testing, supporting major projects across the UK. As part of the Celnor Group, we deliver technical accuracy, fast turnarounds, and on-site expertise to clients in transport, highways, and structural development. We are now hiring a Site Technician to join our growing team in Spondon, Derby. This is a hands-on, field-based role working across live construction and road surfacing sites ideal for candidates with some experience in site testing, construction, or materials environments, looking to further develop in a high-demand industry. Key Responsibilities Attending construction and surfacing sites to conduct on-site sampling and testing of materialsPerforming laboratory testing on soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphaltAccurately recording and uploading test results using company systems (tablet provided)Liaising with site teams and colleagues to maintain quality, accuracy, and complianceWorking shift patterns (day/night shifts and some weekends), with paid overtimeTravelling across the Midlands in a company van (following initial onboarding)Adhering to all safety standards, including passing a Safety Critical Medical (paid for by us)Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Have experience in construction site work, materials testing, or a related technical environmentCommunicate clearly and work well independentlyAre confident using digital tools and Microsoft OfficeHold a full UK driving licencePossess a CSCS card (or are willing to obtain one)Are flexible with working hours and willing to travelUKAS/MCIT/Soils and Aggregates experience is desirable but not essential full technical support will be provided.Salary and Benefits Salary of £29,000 £32,000, depending on experienceSigning-on bonus payable upon successful completion of probationWe offer a referral reward of up to £500 after probation if you refer a successful hire40 hours per week with overtime rates for evenings/weekendsCompany van, phone, and tablet (following training period)All required training and Safety Critical Medical paid for by MSSExcellent career progression and cross-training opportunities across Celnor GroupMSS is an equal opportunities employer committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.To apply, please submit your CV and a covering letter explaining why you're the right fit for this role.TPBN1_UKTJ
