We're looking for an experienced Service Manager to join their team and lead the service department, ensuring their fleet remains safe, compliant, and ready to perform. This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong people leader with plant industry knowledge, excellent organisation skills, and a drive for continuous improvement.What you'll doAs an essential part of the Service team, you'll:Manage the day-to-day running of the service department effectivelyOversee hire equipment checks, including Service Red Pen ChecksLead workshop health & safety standards and safe working practicesManage major and minor repairs to maximise equipment availabilitySupervise and support workshop staff performance and developmentEnsure statutory training is up to date across the teamMaintain workshop and yard compliance standardsProcess workshop staff timesheets accurately and on timeDeliver toolbox talks and regular team briefingsCommunicate performance targets, objectives, and company updates to staffAnalyse weekly purchase order reports to identify savings and highlight overspendSupport recruitment of workshop fitters when requiredDrive improvements in engagement, productivity, and retention across the teamWhat we're looking forWe're looking for an experienced professional who brings energy, leadership, and accountability to this role.Proven experience in a management or supervisory roleStrong leadership and team management skillsOrganised, driven, and focused approach to workExcellent attention to detailAbility to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environmentStrong communication and people management skillsHealth & Safety focused mindsetGood knowledge of Microsoft ExcelNVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalentPlant hire, workshop, or construction equipment experience preferredWhat you'll getA role with purpose and opportunity to make an impactA collaborative and inclusive environmentOngoing learning and development opportunities£250 ?Love to Learn' voucher each year to support your personal growth and learning goalsOne Volunteer Day per year to spend helping a cause that you care aboutSubsidised gym membership ? we'll cover 50% of your monthly cost (subject to criteria)25 days' holiday + bank holidaysEnhanced maternity and paternity leaveMental health & wellbeing support programmesRegular team socials and eventsForward Assist Recruitment is operating as an employment agency.
