Semi-Senior Financial AccountantLocation: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire Job Type: Full Time (Flexible working arrangements considered 34 days per week, salary pro rata) Working Hours: 35-hour working week (MondayThursday 9:00 am5:00 pm, Friday 9:00 am4:00 pm) Salary: £30,000 £45,000 per annum DOEOur client is a friendly accountancy practice based in the heart of Cheltenham. They are a small team with strong local knowledge and specialise in supporting small businesses with their finance needs from start-up through to year-end accounts and corporation tax. They provide support across bookkeeping, payroll, self-assessment, VAT, and end-of-year accounts, offering a personal service and aiming to deliver clear, practical, no-jargon advice to clients.The RoleThis is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to further develop their accounting career within a professional practice environment while gaining exposure to a varied client portfolio .You will work closely with senior accountants and managers, supporting the delivery of high-quality financial reporting, compliance work, and client service.Key responsibilities:Prepare statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companiesAssist with management accounts preparation and monthly reportingComplete VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC regulationsSupport clients with bookkeeping and general accounting queriesPrepare and submit corporation tax computations and returnsLiaise with clients to gather required financial informationWork closely with senior team members on complex assignmentsEnsure all work is completed accurately and within deadlinesMaintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards and legislationWhat Were Looking ForAAT qualified or part-qualified ACCA / ACA (or equivalent)Experience preparing accounts and VAT returnsConfident using accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)Strong attention to detail and organisational skillsGood communication skills with a client-focused approachAble to manage workload and meet deadlines effectivelyWhats In It For You28 days annual leave per annumPension schemeOffice-based role with parking availableSupportive and collaborative working environmentStudy support towards ACCA / ACA (if applicable)Career progression opportunities within a growing practiceExposure to a diverse range of clients and industriesOngoing training and professional developmentWhats next?
