QESH Manager | Cleckheaton | Full-time, Monday to Thursday 8:00 am 4:45 pm, Friday 8:00 am 12:30 pm | £45,000 per annumOur client is a long-established subcontract precision engineering manufacturer supplying the valve, filtration and defence industries. Established in 1974, the company employs 35 people and operates around 30 CNC machines, generating an annual turnover of approximately £3 million.With over 50 years of engineering expertise and a strong reputation for quality, reliability and precision manufacturing, they are looking to appoint an experienced QESH Manager to take ownership of the company's Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety activities at their Cleckheaton facility.This is a key role working closely with the Managing Director, production teams and inspection department to maintain compliance, drive continuous improvement and support the company's ongoing success.The RoleAs QESH Manager, you will be responsible for leading the company's integrated Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety systems while ensuring the highest standards are maintained across the manufacturing operation.The role will include:Taking ownership of the company's Quality Management System (ISO 9001), ensuring ongoing compliance and continual improvementSupporting the management of Environmental and Health & Safety systems (ISO 14001 and ISO 45001)Managing and developing the inspection function and supporting inspection personnelWorking closely with production teams to improve quality performance and reduce waste, scrap and non-conformancesLeading internal audits and supporting external customer and certification auditsManaging corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), including customer complaints and internal quality issuesConducting root cause investigations and implementing effective improvement actionsReviewing quality data, producing management reports and identifying opportunities for improvementSupporting health, safety and environmental initiatives across the businessDelivering toolbox talks, promoting safe working practices and supporting employee wellbeingMaintaining quality documentation, procedures and compliance recordsWorking with customers and suppliers to resolve technical and quality-related issuesRequirementsEssentialPrevious experience in a Quality, QESH, Quality Engineering or similar management role within an engineering manufacturing environmentStrong experience and understanding of machining, inspection and metrology is essentialEngineering manufacturing background with the ability to understand technical drawings, specifications and material certificationExperience managing and maintaining ISO 9001 Quality Management SystemsExperience with internal audits, non-conformance management and continuous improvement activitiesStrong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality assurance and inspection techniquesExperience carrying out root cause analysis and implementing corrective actionsProven people management skills with the ability to lead, motivate and develop a teamExcellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with management, production teams, customers and suppliersStrong problem-solving ability with a proactive approach to improving processes and standardsDesirableExperience managing Environmental and Health & Safety activitiesExperience working with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systemsISO Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualificationIOSH Managing Safely qualificationIEMA qualification or equivalent environmental certificationApprentice-trained Mechanical EngineerExperience within subcontract precision engineering, valve, filtration or defence sectorsWhats In It For You£45,000 annual salary24 days holiday plus Bank HolidaysCompany pensionEarly finish every FridayOpportunity to join a successful and long-established engineering businessKey leadership role with direct influence on company performanceSupportive working environment with an experienced engineering teamOpportunity to shape and improve QESH standards across the businessTraining and professional development opportunitiesStable, full-time permanent positionWhats next?
