Senior Bookkeeper Stamford £30-40k DOE Work from home Fridays, 35 hour working week Full-time / Part-time considered My client is a friendly, established small accountancy firm based in the Stamford area, specialising in supporting small businesses and SMEs. They pride themselves on delivering practical, proactive financial support that helps their clients grow and stay compliant. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join their team. You will take ownership of the day-to-day financial management for a portfolio of clients, with a strong focus on accuracy, efficiency, and excellent client service. Key Responsibilities Full-cycle bookkeeping for small business and SME clients Preparation and submission of VAT returns (including Making Tax Digital compliance) Day to day book keeping Preparation of year-end accounts and supporting documentation for audit/tax purposes Liaison with clients on financial queries and ad-hoc advice Working with Xero and QuickBooks (primary software platforms) Supporting the team with process improvements and best practice implementation Requirements Senior-level bookkeeping experience (minimum 3–5 years) Strong working knowledge of Xero and QuickBooks (essential) Excellent understanding of UK VAT rules and Making Tax Digital Experience working with small businesses and SMEs High level of accuracy and attention to detail Strong communication skills – able to explain financial information clearly to non-accountants AAT qualification (or equivalent) is highly desirable but not essential if experience is strong What We Offer Competitive salary Flexible working options including WFH Fridays Generous holiday allowance Pension contributions Professional development opportunities (e.g., CPD support) Friendly, supportive team environment with a good work-life balance Varied client work – no two days are the same This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled bookkeeper who enjoys working independently but as part of a close-knit team, and who takes real pride in helping small businesses succeed
