Part-Time Business Rates Surveyor

Your new companyAn established and growing property-focused consultancy is seeking an experienced Business Rates Surveyor to support the delivery of rating advice and appeals services across a diverse commercial property portfolio.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced rating surveyor looking for a flexible, part-time role with the autonomy to manage their own workload while delivering high-quality advice to clients.Your new roleReporting into senior management, you will be responsible for reviewing business rates liabilities, identifying savings opportunities and managing appeals through the VOA process.Key responsibilities will include:Reviewing rateable values across a range of commercial propertiesIdentifying opportunities for business rates savings and mitigationPreparing and managing Check, Challenge and Appeal submissionsUndertaking valuation analysis and comparable evidence reviewsLiaising with the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) and other stakeholdersProviding clear, commercially focused advice to clientsProducing reports and recommendations relating to rating mattersSupporting wider property and occupier cost-management initiativesWhat you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this role, you will have:Proven experience within Business Rates / Rating SurveyingStrong understanding of the UK business rates system and VOA processesExperience preparing and negotiating rating appealsAbility to analyse valuation evidence and identify opportunities for savingsExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsA proactive and commercially minded approachMRICS, IRRV or equivalent professional qualification desirable, but not essentialAbility to operate independently and manage a flexible workloadWhat you'll get in returnCompetitive day rate, dependent on experienceFlexible engagement of 2 to 3 days per weekHybrid and remote working optionsOpportunity to work across a varied commercial property portfolioLong-term contract potential for the right individualHigh degree of autonomy and flexibilityWhat you need to do nowIf you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.If this job isn't quite right for you, but you are looking for a new position, please contact us for a confidential discussion about your career.Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
