A Great Place To Work MentalityAt Burgh Thorpe Solicitors, we have built a supportive, flexible, and ambitious working environment where people are encouraged to grow and develop long-term careers within the legal sector.As part of our continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Residential Conveyancing Legal Assistantto join our Conveyancing Department.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced conveyancing professional to join a modern and growing firm, with genuine progression opportunities for the right candidate.The RoleYou will be supporting a conveyancer (or conveyancing solicitor) by handling the administrative, procedural, and transaction-management tasks that keep a property file moving smoothly from instruction through to completion.In practice, you will act as the "engine room" of the transaction, making sure nothing stalls while the conveyancer focuses on legal judgment, risk, and client advice.Key ResponsibilitiesOpening new conveyancing files and completing client onboarding (ID checks, AML, source of funds where required)Sending engagement letters, forms, and initial instructions to clientsOrdering and chasing property searchesRequesting and following up on management packs from freeholders/managing agentsLiaising with mortgage lenders, brokers, and obtaining mortgage offers or redemption statementsMaintaining regular contact with clients, estate agents, and other solicitors for updates and progress chasingUpdating the case management system with accurate notes, tasks, and deadlinesPreparing contract packs and supporting documentation for review by the conveyancerDrafting standard documents under supervisionAssisting with exchange and completion preparations (including funds requests and file checks)Submitting SDLT returns and supporting Land Registry applications post-completionHandling routine post-completion tasks (registration updates, title documents, requisitions)Ensuring compliance requirements are met and escalating legal issues or risks to the conveyancer promptlyAbout YouThe ideal candidate will have:Previous experience in conveyancing (essential)Excellent attention to detail and organisational skillsThe ability to follow structured processes consistently and accuratelyStrong written and verbal communication skillsA proactive attitude and the ability to manage a high-volume workloadConfidence using digital systems and technologyAbout UsBurgh Thorpe Solicitors is a modern boutique law firm specialising in Residential Conveyancing and Commercial Property.We combine high-quality legal expertise with innovative technology and outstanding client service, while maintaining the approachable and personal service of a high-street firm.We are proud of the supportive culture we have created and are committed to investing in the development and wellbeing of our people.Hybrid Working: We offer hybrid working arrangements following the successful completion of your probationary period, subject to business needs and role requirements.Why Join Burgh Thorpe Solicitors?25 days annual leave plus bank holidaysTwo additional Wellbeing Days each yearYour birthday off as an additional paid day of leaveA genuine focus on work-life balanceFlexible and supportive working practicesClear progression and development opportunitiesStrong internal training and supportRegular social events and team initiativesA collaborative and friendly working environmentWe welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates regardless of their race, gender, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.TPBN1_UKTJ
