Job Description

The client are a leading global manufacturer of precision forged and machined components. They are recruiting for aLead Toolmakerto join their team in Redditch.About the RoleReporting to the Toolroom Supervisor, the Toolmaker Team Lead will be responsible for manufacturing, maintaining and repairing tooling to precise engineering drawings and tight tolerances. The role supports the manufacture of high-integrity components by ensuring all tooling is produced to specification, available when required, and maintained to a high standard.You will operate a variety of Toolroom machinery, produce extrusion, mould and finish dies, carry out manual machining and bench work, and support breakdowns and preventative maintenance. You will contribute to improved productivity, reduced scrap, and efficient tooling performance across the site.Responsibilities Manufacture tooling, including extrusion, mould and finish dies, from raw material to engineering drawingsProduce single stage clip tools as requiredOperate Toolroom machinery including manual milling, manual turning and surface grindersSupport preventative maintenance activities and complete service and repair tasksProvide tooling support during breakdowns to minimise downtimeWork to tight tolerances and ensure tooling meets required specificationsCollaborate with engineering and production teams to share knowledge and improve tooling performanceCarry out polishing and manual compensation (bench work)Ensure tooling is produced to the correct quality standardApply knowledge of ISO9001 and quality principles in day-to-day activitiesConduct inspection and verification of tooling dimensions.QualificationsApprentice-trained, time-served toolmaker, or a minimum of five years' experience in a Toolroom environmentExperience within hot metal or heavy manufacturing environments (aerospace or automotive preferred)Foundation understanding of material science and metallurgyAbility to interpret technical engineering drawingsCompetent in the use of measuring equipment (micrometers, height gauges, imperial and metric)Confident communicator able to work effectively with cross-functional teamsSkilled in manual machining operations including milling, turning, grinding and bench workAbility to work using own initiative with minimal supervisionCommitment to integrity, teamwork and continuous improvementHours: 2 week rotation, week 1: Monday-Friday 06:00 14:00, week 2: Monday-Thursday 14:00 - 00:00BenefitsPension: 3% Employer & 5% Employee contributionEmployee benefits, rewards, and wellbeing platformFree on-site parkingCycle to work schemeBereavement leaveCompany eventsEmployee referral programmeSick pay (after probationary period)This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Toolmaker or Tooling Engineer looking to apply their expertise, in a dynamic and high-quality engineering environment.The role is based in Redditch so is easily commutable from Birmingham, Worcester, Bromsgrove, Solihull, Alcester, Dudley, Droitwich, West Bromwich, Kidderminster, Wolverhampton, Walsall.This role is being advertised by Pertemps who operate as a recruitment agency.TPBN1_UKTJ
