Production Team LeaderLocation: Plymouth, DevonSalary: £36,000 - £42,000 OTEShifts: Alternating ShiftsAbout the RoleWe are recruiting for a Production Team Leader to join a leading manufacturing business in Plymouth. Due to continued growth, the team is expanding offering an exciting opportunity to step into a key leadership role within a high-performing production environment.As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of your team, driving performance across safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement. You will play a pivotal role in aligning team output with broader business goals and ensuring operational excellence on shift.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage a production team to achieve output, quality, and efficiency targetsOversee shift performance, monitor progress, and implement recovery plans when requiredDrive continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing principles (e.g. SMED, waste reduction, standard work)Promote a collaborative, cross-functional approach with departments such as Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and PlanningDevelop, motivate, and engage team members through coaching, performance reviews, and regular 1:1sLead daily and weekly communications including toolbox talks and performance updatesTake ownership of health & safety, ensuring full compliance with policies, procedures, and best practiceManage quality standards, root cause analysis, and drive improvements to reduce scrap and defectsSupport recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of team membersContribute to operational and financial targets including cost control and productivity improvementsAbout YouEssential:Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams in a manufacturing or production environmentStrong understanding of production KPIs, quality standards, and performance managementExperience implementing continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing techniquesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with a hands-on leadership styleStrong problem-solving abilities using techniques such as 5 Whys or 8DKnowledge of health & safety compliance within a production settingDesirable:ILM/CMI Level 3 or similar leadership qualificationExperience with SAP or similar MRP systemsUnderstanding of Lean tools, Six Sigma, or structured improvement methodologiesIOSH Managing Safely qualification (or willingness to obtain)What's in it for You?Competitive salary with a generous shift premiumOpportunity to join a growing and forward-thinking manufacturing businessClear progression and development opportunitiesExposure to continuous improvement initiatives and modern manufacturing practicesA collaborative and supportive working environmentInterested?
