Mon - Thursday Flex can start at 7 or 8 and finish at 3.30/4.30 - Friday Midday finish 37 Hours per week 28 days leave standard pension £19-21 Ph dependent on ExpJob Title: Semi-Skilled Electrician ( Steel Fabrication & Manufacturing)Location: HeywoodDepartment: Maintenance / EngineeringReports To: Shopfloor ManagerJob Summary We are seeking a reliable and motivated Semi-Skilled Electrician to support electrical and maintenance operations within a busy steel manufacturing, welding, and fabrication environment. The role involves electrical panel and control board wiring, machine maintenance, fault finding assistance, and general factory maintenance to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.Key Responsibilities Carry out electrical wiring and assembly of control panels, distribution boards, and machine control circuits.Assist with installation, modification, and commissioning of electrical equipment and machinery.Perform routine preventative maintenance on production machinery and workshop equipment.Support troubleshooting and repair of electrical faults on manufacturing and fabrication machinery.Conduct general maintenance activities throughout the factory, including lighting, power supplies, and electrical services.Assist with maintenance and repair of welding equipment, fabrication machinery, overhead cranes, and associated workshop equipment.Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.Ensure all electrical work complies with company procedures and relevant electrical regulations.Maintain accurate maintenance records and report equipment issues to supervisors.Support mechanical maintenance activities when required.Keep work areas clean, organised, and safe.Participate in planned shutdowns and emergency breakdown repairs.Skills and Experience Essential:Previous experience in an industrial, manufacturing, fabrication, or steel production environment.Knowledge of electrical wiring, control panels, and industrial machinery.Ability to use electrical testing equipment and hand tools safely.Understanding of electrical safety procedures and safe isolation practices.Ability to read basic electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.Good problem-solving and fault-finding skills.Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.Desirable:Electrical qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, apprenticeship, or equivalent).Experience working with welding equipment, fabrication machinery, or steel processing equipment.Knowledge of motors, contactors, relays, sensors, and variable speed drives (VSDs).Forklift, MEWP, or overhead crane certification.Personal Attributes Reliable and punctual.Able to work independently and as part of a team.Flexible approach to maintenance requirements and production demands.Good communication skills.Positive attitude towards continuous improvement and workplace safety.Working Conditions Factory-based role within a steel fabrication and welding workshop environment.Exposure to noise, dust, heat, and moving machinery.Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times.May require overtime and occasional shift work to support production and maintenance schedules.Key Duties Summary This role is responsible for:Board and control panel wiringElectrical installation and maintenanceMachine breakdown repairsPreventative maintenanceGeneral factory electrical maintenanceSupport of welding and fabrication workshop equipmentEnsuring safe and efficient operation of manufacturing machineryTPBN1_UKTJ
